12 US Senators Urge Trump to Reverse Russian Diesel Deal

12 senators from both parties urged Trump to reverse the deal. The deal eases sanctions on Russian diesel fuel exports.

The deal was announced October 9. The senators said the deal would help Russia keep fighting in Ukraine.

They also argued it would bring little relief from high fuel prices. Republicans and Democrats both criticized the deal.

They said it would fuel Russia's war. Others said it breaks existing US laws.

Some also warned it would draw the US closer to Russia. Trump said the deal would bring Russian diesel to global markets.

He said that would help ease high fuel prices. Congress banned Russian energy imports in 2022.

Last month Congress passed a new Russia sanctions law. Trump signed it. The senators urged him to use them against enablers of Russia's war.

Klear Note — Sanctions are trade restrictions used to pressure governments. Easing them can make it easier to sell Russian diesel abroad.
