AI Leaders Urge UN to Set Global AI Rules
Sam Altman leads OpenAI while Dario Amodei leads Anthropic. Both spoke to the United Nations Security Council on September 23.
They said countries must work together on artificial intelligence. This cooperation would help keep AI under human control.
Altman and Amodei urged the UN to set global AI rules. Clement Delangue from Hugging Face joined the call.
Delangue asked for global standards to check AI risks. Yoshua Bengio also took part in the meeting.
Altman attended in person. Amodei and Delangue joined remotely.
The goal is a shared framework for managing AI worldwide. The Security Council first discussed AI risks in 2023.
Back then China warned AI should not become a "runaway horse." The United States raised concerns about censorship and repression. Altman, Amodei and Bengio also backed a 2023 statement. That statement called catastrophic AI risk a global priority.
