Air Canada CEO to Retire After Language Dispute

Michael Rousseau is the head of Air Canada. He will retire by the end of the third quarter of 2026.

This follows criticism over his response to a deadly crash. Two pilots died when an Air Canada plane hit a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport, New York.

Rousseau gave a video tribute to the pilots in English only. He did not speak French.

This led to criticism from people and politicians. Air Canada will now look for a successor who speaks French well.

Klear Note Air Canada is Canada's largest airline. French is an official language in Canada alongside English. Speaking both languages is important for Canadian business leaders.
