Amazon Cargo Plane Overshoots Miami Runway Killing Five

An Amazon Prime Air cargo plane crashed in Miami on Sunday. The plane overshot a runway and struck a van.

Five people in the van were killed. The van belonged to a cleaning company.

The National Transportation Safety Board examined the plane's flight recorder. They also studied the cockpit voice recording.

One pilot warned the other about excessive speed. This warning lasted the final one minute and 42 seconds.

The flight recorder revealed more details about the crash. Preliminary data showed pilots briefly considered aborting the landing.

The plane touched down at about 158 knots. Investigators found no sign that speed brakes engaged.

Thrust reversers also did not appear to deploy. The NTSB's investigation into the cause continues.

The Boeing 767 was operated by 21 Air. It flew for Amazon as Prime Air Flight 7598.
