American Doctor Tests Positive for Ebola in Congo
Dr. Peter Stafford tested positive for Ebola on Sunday. He is a medical missionary in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He is now being treated at a hospital in Berlin, Germany. Stafford said he is optimistic about his recovery.
His wife and four children have arrived in Berlin and are being watched for signs of illness. A colleague who may also have been exposed is being watched in Prague, Czech Republic. The Ebola outbreak in the region has killed 177 people so far.
Klear Note — Ebola is a rare, deadly virus spread through contact with infected blood or body fluids. The Democratic Republic of Congo has had multiple outbreaks in recent years.
