Dario Amodei is CEO of AI company Anthropic. On Saturday he called for the AI industry to slow down.

He proposed a three-part plan to manage AI risks. The plan calls for outside checks on AI systems.

It also asks companies and governments to work together. This would let regulators catch up with new technology.

The plan would need cooperation from many governments including authoritarian ones. Amodei urged rival companies to invite outside auditors into their offices.

Anthropic said it would take this first step itself. He also called for companies to coordinate a slowdown together.

Elon Musk supported the call for slower AI progress. Musk also backed the idea of independent auditors.

But he did not support the full plan. Leaders of other AI companies also agreed with slowing development.

Amodei warned uncontrolled AI progress could cause serious harm soon. This could include loss of control, cyberattacks, bioterrorism and economic damage.
