Anti-Immigration Protesters Disrupt Britain's Busiest Ferry Port
Dozens of protesters in black clothes blocked entrances at Dover port. They also wore balaclavas Saturday morning.
Dover in Kent, England is Britain's busiest ferry port. The protest closed all routes in and out.
This reportedly caused a four-mile traffic jam. Travelers and cargo trucks heading to France were affected.
Ferry passengers who missed crossings got booked onto later ferries. The protest was linked to opposition against immigration and Channel crossings.
The Port of Dover called it a public order incident. Kent police attended and talked with the protesters.
No arrests were made. The port operator later said services returned to normal. Access roads were reported as free flowing again.
Klear Note — Dover links Britain and France, carrying travelers and goods across the Channel.
