Avalanche on Pakistan Mountain Kills Three Climbers
An avalanche hit Broad Peak in Pakistan on Thursday. Broad Peak is a mountain in northern Pakistan.
Three climbers died and seven others went missing. They were part of a 10-member climbing team.
The dead include an American climber, an Omani climber and a Nepalese climber. The missing and dead climbers come from several countries.
These include Nepal, Oman, China, Pakistan and Britain. Rescuers have found four bodies so far.
Helicopters and rescue teams have resumed searching for the missing climbers. Poor weather has been slowing the search.
Rescuers are focused on a remote area near Camp I. Officials in Gilgit-Baltistan gave this update. Gilgit-Baltistan is a mountainous region in northern Pakistan.
The fate of well-known climber Nirmal Purja remains unclear. He is believed to be among those missing. Reports say Purja and three others may have died near Camp I.
