Bombs Explode Near Macron's Hotel in Syria

Two bombs went off in Damascus, Syria on Tuesday. They exploded near the hotel where French President Macron was staying.

One bomb was inside a parked car. The other was inside a rubbish bin near the Tourism Ministry.

18 people were hurt in the blasts. Macron had already left the hotel before the bombs went off.

French officials said he was safe and unhurt. No group has claimed the attacks.

Macron's visit to Syria will continue as planned. He is the first Western leader to visit Syria since rebels removed President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. Syria's new president welcomed Macron at the presidential palace earlier in the visit.
