Boy Swims 4km to Save Family
Austin Appelbee is 13 years old. His mother and two siblings were swept out to sea.
Austin swam 4 kilometers in rough seas to get help. He then ran 2 kilometers to reach authorities. Austin told the emergency operator: "We got lost out there." He said he was "really scared." Austin's actions helped save his family.
Klear Note — Rip currents can sweep swimmers far from shore quickly. They are dangerous ocean currents that pull people away from land.
