British Couple Rescued From Wildfire in Spain
A British couple was found badly burned in Spain. They were discovered semi-conscious in a ravine in Almería province.
A wildfire there has killed 12 people. It has also burned more than 6000 hectares of land.
The couple was airlifted to hospital after a two-hour rescue. They suffered burns covering 40% of their bodies.
The couple was on holiday in the region. They were reportedly hiking when the fire trapped them.
Civil Guard officers found them near Bedar the worst-hit town. Officers heard faint cries early Friday morning according to reports.
The fire has forced at least 1400 people to evacuate. More than 500 firefighters and emergency workers are responding.
The couple are among eight people hospitalized with burns. Reports call it one of Spain's deadliest wildfires on record.
