Britney Spears Charged With Drink Driving
Britney Spears has been charged with drink and drug driving. The charge was announced on Thursday by leaders in Ventura County, California.
In March she was stopped for driving badly on a highway in California. After her arrest she checked herself into a treatment center.
She is due in court on May 4 in Ventura County. The charge is minor so she does not have to appear in person. Reports say prosecutors may offer a lighter deal called a "wet reckless." This could mean probation, a driving class and fines instead of jail.
Klear Note — Drink driving is illegal in all US states. A 'wet reckless' charge is less serious than drunk driving. It usually means probation, fines, and classes instead of jail time.
