Bus Falls into Ravine in Pakistan, 40 Dead
An overcrowded bus crashed in the Dana Sar mountains in Balochistan, Pakistan. It was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar.
The bus veered off a mountain road and fell into a deep ravine. At least 40 people were killed.
Eight others were injured. Authorities say the bus was likely speeding.
The bus was overcrowded after it took on extra passengers. A second bus on the same route had broken down.
The crash site is near the Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border on National Highway N-50. Rescue teams from both regions responded.
Pakistan's President Zardari and Balochistan Chief Minister Bugti expressed condolences. Both leaders ordered full investigations into the crash.
