Busan Shark Spotted Outside Canal but Not in Open Sea
A shark is trapped in a canal in Busan, South Korea. The large gray shark is 9 feet 10 inches (3 meters) long.
It is known as Bukang-i. The shark has been trapped for over a month.
It was first spotted on September 18. Earlier attempts on September 29 and October 2 failed.
Officials made a third attempt to guide it back to open sea. They hoped it would reach open water.
Yonhap reported on October 21. The shark was seen near a pier outside the canal.
But it has not yet reached open water. Reports say experts are worried about its health.
Reasons include no sign of feeding and falling water temperatures. Crowds have watched efforts to save the shark. The shark has drawn over a million visitors.
Klear Note — A canal is a human-made waterway, separate from the open sea.
