Camp Mystic Director Sorry After Deadly Flood
The director of Camp Mystic said sorry to families on Tuesday. This happened at a government hearing about a deadly 2025 flood in Texas.
The flood killed 28 people. Those killed included 25 girls and two teen counselors.
Camp owner Dick Eastland also died in the flood. A state senator told the camp's owners they could no longer run the camp.
An investigator named Casey Garrett said the deaths could have been prevented. Garrett found the camp had no plan to evacuate.
The camp also had no radios, life jackets or ladders. Investigators also found that counselor training was not good enough.
The Eastland family is set to speak at the hearing. Camp Mystic has asked to reopen this summer on a part of the camp that did not flood.
