A car drove into pedestrians in Caen, northern France, late Wednesday. One person died and 10 others were hurt.

Seven of the injured were critically hurt. The crash happened near Caen's train station.

It happened at or near a bus shelter. Police detained a 26-year-old man after he fled the scene.

Police said a fight happened at a nearby bar. This happened shortly before the crash.

They did not say the fight caused the crash. Prosecutors said the incident is not currently being treated as terrorism.
