China Storms Kill at Least 15 People

At least 15 people have died across China after extreme weather struck. Heavy rain, strong winds and tornadoes hit central Hubei Province.

At least 11 people died there. Cities including Huangshi, Huanggang, Ezhou and Xianning were among the hardest hit.

Winds reached up to 149 km/h. Between 275 and 331 people were injured in the storms.

Thousands were evacuated from affected areas. China's leader Xi Jinping called for all-out efforts to respond to the deadly weather.

Separately Typhoon Maysak caused flooding in southern Guangxi. At least four more people died there and around 50,000 were forced to evacuate.
