Defense Begins Case in Lindsay Clancy Murder Trial
Prosecutors rested Monday in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial in Massachusetts. Clancy is accused of killing her three children.
Prosecutors called nearly 70 witnesses over three weeks. Their final witness discussed Apple Watch data.
Then the defense began presenting its case Monday. They called Clancy's mother Paula Musgrove as an early witness.
Musgrove said Clancy had thoughts of harming the children. She said Clancy's medications were destroying her mind.
She said Clancy was becoming paranoid. Musgrove said Clancy's mental health declined starting in October 2022.
She described Clancy's anxiety, insomnia, paranoia and fears about driving. She also mentioned fears about caring for her three children.
Clancy's sister also testified. She said Clancy grew increasingly anxious, paranoid and suicidal before the killings.
The defense argues Clancy lacked criminal responsibility due to postpartum psychosis. Her lawyers also point to bipolar disorder and medication problems.
