Ebola cases in Democratic Republic of Congo have reached 2011. At least 754 people have died.

Leaders say this is the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak ever recorded. Health workers at Bunia General Hospital went on strike Wednesday.

Bunia is at the center of the outbreak. Workers are striking over pay problems.

The strike is part of wider action by health workers. They are responding to the outbreak across the region.

This outbreak comes from a rare form called Bundibugyo ebolavirus. There is no approved vaccine or treatment for it.

A more common Ebola strain does have treatments. Doctors recently started testing two possible treatments in Ituri province.

The World Health Organization says most new cases come from unknown sources. At least 80% of cases cannot be traced to a known patient.

Officials still have not found the outbreak's first patient. Right now 753 patients are in isolation and 366 have recovered.
