Drone Strikes UAE Nuclear Plant and Sparks Fire
A drone struck a nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates. The plant is called Barakah.
Two other drones were stopped by air defenses. The third hit an electrical generator outside the plant's main area.
This started a fire at the plant's edge. The reactors and core systems were not affected.
No one was hurt in the attack. Authorities say radiation levels are normal.
One reactor ran on backup generators for a time. The UAE called the strike a "dangerous escalation" and launched an investigation.
No group has officially said it carried out the attack. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency expressed serious concern. He called for military restraint near nuclear plants.
Klear Note — Nuclear power plants generate electricity using nuclear reactions. Attacks on them risk radiation leaks that can harm people and land.
