Ed Sheeran to Perform in Philadelphia Amid Protests

Ed Sheeran will perform in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday night. This is his first Philadelphia show since Macklemore was dropped from Sheeran's Loop Tour.

Pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside Lincoln Financial Field. They waved Palestinian flags and chanted.

The protest happened one week after Macklemore's removal from the tour. Macklemore was dropped after making pro-Palestinian comments onstage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

He said Free Palestine and performed his protest song Hind's Hall. All other opening acts then withdrew from the tour.

This left Sheeran performing without them. After his removal Macklemore pledged $1 million to six Palestinian-aid groups. He also promised to donate his net earnings from the tour to Palestinian aid.

Klear Note — The protest links Sheeran's Philadelphia concert to Macklemore's earlier comments. Macklemore later pledged $1 million and tour earnings to Palestinian aid.
