England Footballer Ivan Toney Charged With Assault
England footballer Ivan Toney was charged on July 31 with assault. The charge is called assault causing actual bodily harm.
It relates to an alleged incident at a nightclub in Soho, London. The incident reportedly happened last December.
Police in London confirmed the charge. Toney is a 30 year old former Brentford striker.
He now plays for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia. He must appear at Westminster magistrates court in London.
That hearing is set for September 24. A spokesperson for Toney said he acknowledged the charge. The spokesperson said Toney looks forward to clearing his name in court.
Klear Note — Assault causing actual bodily harm alleges that someone suffered physical injury. The charge does not establish guilt; a court decides what happened.
