EU Rejects UK Single Goods Market Plan

The EU has rejected a UK plan to create a single goods market. The UK wanted to deepen its economic ties with the EU.

Michael Ellam is the UK's top official on EU relations. He presented the idea during visits to Brussels, Belgium.

But the EU said no. Brussels said it will only talk about a wider package of measures.

These talks would happen at the next UK-EU summit. Any goods market discussions would be addressed there.

Klear Note The UK left the EU in 2020. A single goods market would let products move freely between them without tariffs or checks.
