Family Sues US Over Renee Good's Fatal Shooting
Renee Good's family filed two federal lawsuits on Thursday. They are suing over her fatal shooting in Minneapolis in January.
They name the federal government, several Trump administration officials and the agent. One lawsuit seeks damages from the United States for wrongful death.
The other alleges a conspiracy to interfere with civil rights. The lawsuits also allege excessive force, negligence, civil-rights violations and other violations.
Good was 37 years old. A US immigration officer fatally shot her during an immigration crackdown.
Federal authorities described the shooting as justified. They said Good tried to run over agents.
Officials said the officer fired to protect himself and others. Good was one of two US citizens fatally shot by agents.
Her shooting set off protests in Minnesota early this year. This was during the Trump administration's immigration operation.
