Farage Quits as UK Member of Parliament Then Plans Comeback
Nigel Farage has quit as a Member of Parliament for Clacton in the United Kingdom. He leads Reform UK which is a right-wing political party.
His resignation was prompted by scrutiny over gifts and donations he did not declare. A €5 million gift from a crypto billionaire was at the centre of the inquiry.
Farage said the money was needed to pay for his personal security. He said he will run again in the by-election his resignation triggered.
He framed the vote as a contest between the people and the political establishment. The parliamentary standards inquiry will pause while the by-election takes place. It will only restart if Farage loses his seat.
