FIFA Defends World Cup 2026 Ticket Prices
FIFA has been criticized over ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup. The tournament starts June 11 in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
FIFA used dynamic pricing for the event. One ticket was listed for over $2 million.
Many games appear undersold as a result. FIFA president Gianni Infantino defended the prices at a conference in Beverly Hills, California.
He said prices match most American sporting events. He added that market rates must apply to World Cup tickets. The tournament is expected to add over $40 billion to global GDP.
