Fire at China Shoe Factory Kills 28 People
A fire broke out at a shoe factory in Fujian province, China. It killed 28 people.
The factory makes shoes in Jinjiang city. Jinjiang is known as China's shoe capital.
Of 239 people inside, 213 got out safely. Video showed large flames rising from the building.
Thick black smoke filled the sky. Early findings suggest the fire started on the ground floor.
Flammable shoe-making materials made the fire spread faster. China's leader Xi Jinping called on authorities to fully investigate the cause. He also called for those responsible to be held accountable.
