Fire at Kenya Girls School Kills 15 Students
A fire killed at least 15 students at a school in Kenya on Thursday. The fire broke out at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil.
The school is about 76 miles from Nairobi. The fire started in a dormitory between 1am and 3:30am.
Education Secretary Julius Ogamba said 79 students were injured. Seven students needed hospital treatment.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The school has been closed off while an investigation takes place.
President Ruto called for an urgent review of school fire safety. Kenya has seen a series of deadly school fires in recent years.
