A fire in southern Norway destroyed more than 100 homes. Hundreds of people had to evacuate the area.

The fire started in a townhouse in Krokstadelva. This is a neighborhood in Drammen about 40 km from Oslo.

It began around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The fire then spread to a nearby forest. This made the emergency bigger.

Helicopters dumped water on the fire to help stop it. Firefighters were still working to contain the fire Saturday morning.

No residents were reported missing. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was hospitalized.
