Florida Republican Salazar Says Trump Went Too Far On Immigration
Florida Republican Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar released a new ad. The ad came out on September 17, 2026.
In the ad she spoke directly to President Trump. She said some of his immigration enforcement went too far.
Salazar said about 50000 people were detained in July. About half of them had no criminal record.
She said Hispanic voters who helped Trump win in 2024 feel betrayed. Members of the Freedom Caucus criticized her ad.
They support Trump's immigration policies. They also reject legal status for undocumented immigrants.
Salazar is seeking reelection in Florida's 27th Congressional District. The district has many Hispanic voters.
She supports the bipartisan DIGNITY Act. The act combines border security with legal status for some long-term immigrants.
