Former Utah Postal Worker Arraigned Over Ballot Disposal

Damon Matai Seei was a former Postal Service worker in Utah. He was arrested and arraigned September 22 after being indicted September 16.

He is accused of discarding about 300 mail-in ballots. This allegedly happened earlier this year.

The ballots were meant for Eagle Mountain, Utah residents. They were for the June 23 2026 primary election.

The Department of Justice said Seei separated the ballots from other mail. At his shift's start he threw them away within 90 minutes.

He did not deliver any of the ballots. The ballots were reportedly dumped in a church parking lot.

On June 3 2026 Seei was a letter carrier trusted with mail. He handled mail for at least 300 Eagle Mountain residents.

The Department of Justice said he blamed laziness. The USPS Office of Inspector General and Homeland Security Investigations investigated.

The indictment contains only allegations. Seei remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Klear Note — Mail-in ballots let voters cast ballots without visiting polling places. Primary elections help political parties choose candidates for later elections.
