Four US States Sue Meta Over Child Social Media Harm
A trial began in California over Meta and children. Meta is the company that owns Facebook and Instagram.
California, Colorado, Kentucky and New Jersey are suing Meta. They want $200 billion in damages from the company.
They also want changes to Facebook and Instagram for young users. The states say Meta made these apps addictive for children.
They say Meta did this on purpose. This trial is part of a larger legal fight.
Other lawsuits accuse social media companies of harming young people. A separate lawsuit with 29 states was filed three years ago. This trial focuses on just four states.
Klear Note — The case joins wider legal action over social media and young people. Damages are money a court may order to address claimed harm.
