France Calls Musk to Answer for X Content
French prosecutors called Elon Musk to Paris on Monday. Musk owns X which was formerly called Twitter.
Former X boss Linda Yaccarino was also called in. Both were asked to come in for voluntary interviews.
The interviews are part of a check into illegal content on X. This includes child sexual abuse material and deepfake content. It also covers Holocaust denial material and data theft claims.
The check started in January 2025. It grew after French police raided X offices in Paris in February 2026.
Other X workers are set to speak as witnesses during the week. Reports say the United States Justice Department told French leaders it would not help with their check. It accused France of using its courts to target an American business.
Klear Note — X is a social media platform with billions of users worldwide. France has strict laws against illegal content like child abuse material and hate speech. Tech companies can face fines or legal action if they don't remove banned content quickly.
