France Probes Justice System After Girl Found Dead
An 11-year-old girl named Lyhanna was found dead in France. Her body was found in a silo on a farm in southwest France.
She had last been seen getting into a man's car on Friday May 29. The suspect is a 41-year-old man.
He had been identified before as a potential child abuser. He had also faced at least two prior rape accusations.
Those earlier cases were either dropped or stalled. French President Emmanuel Macron called the situation a "dysfunction" in the justice system.
The French government is now set to look into these judicial failings. A justice ministry inquiry was also asked for. The findings will be made public.
Klear Note — France's justice system investigates why prior warnings about suspects aren't always acted on. This case raises questions about how courts handle repeat accusations.
