French DJ Kavinsky Dies at 50 in Paris
French DJ Kavinsky was found dead at his Paris home on Tuesday evening. He was 50 years old.
News of his death broke on Wednesday. His real name was Vincent Belorgey.
Leaders have opened a check into his cause of death. Early findings show no signs of foul play.
A French police source told the newspaper Le Figaro he likely suffered a stroke. He had been complaining of headaches in the days before.
A worried neighbor called emergency services after not seeing him. Kavinsky was a star of the French electro music scene.
He was best known for his 2010 song Nightcall. The song became an international hit.
He performed it at the closing show of the 2024 Paris Olympics. He performed alongside artists Phoenix and Angèle.
Belorgey was born in 1975 in Seine-Saint-Denis, France. He had also opened for the band Daft Punk on their 2007 tour.
He was set to headline a festival near Deauville, France on August 8. French Culture Minister Catherine Pégard paid tribute to him. She said France had lost one of its most unique voices.
