Gates Tells Panel He Should Never Have Met Epstein
Bill Gates spoke to a US House panel on Wednesday about his meetings with Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein was a convicted sex offender.
Gates told lawmakers he should never have met with Epstein. He also said he never saw any sign that Epstein was doing anything illegal.
Gates met with Epstein several times between 2011 and 2014. He has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing or knowledge of Epstein's crimes.
Gates also said Epstein tried to use knowledge of his personal life to pressure him into meeting again. One lawmaker said Gates was not very open during the first hour of the session.
Gates prepared for the session with help from Jake Greenberg. Greenberg previously worked as the panel's chief investigations lawyer.
Klear Note — Jeffrey Epstein was a financier convicted of sex crimes. He died in jail in 2019. Gates has faced questions about their meetings for years.
