Georgia Republicans Pick Senate Nominee in Tuesday Runoff
Republican voters in Georgia will pick their Senate nominee on Tuesday. The race is between Representative Mike Collins and former college football coach Derek Dooley.
Trump backed Collins and nicknamed him "Maga Mike". Governor Brian Kemp backs Dooley.
Neither candidate got 50% of the vote in the May 19 primary. Collins got about 40% and Dooley got about 30%.
So both must now compete again in a runoff. The winner will face Democrat Jon Ossoff in the general election. Ossoff is the current Senator from Georgia.
Klear Note — Georgia runoffs happen when no candidate gets 50% in the primary. The winner faces Democrat Jon Ossoff in November's general election.
