Google Signs Secret AI Deal With Pentagon

Google signed a deal with the US Pentagon to use its AI for secret military work. The deal lets the Pentagon use Google's AI for any lawful government purpose.

This includes use on classified networks. The deal also lets the government change Google's AI safety settings when needed.

Google joins OpenAI and Elon Musk's xAI in signing similar deals with the Pentagon. More than 600 Google workers signed a letter against the deal.

They asked Google chief Sundar Pichai to reject it. Meanwhile the Pentagon has also clashed with AI company Anthropic.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called Anthropic a supply chain risk. President Trump then ordered government agencies to stop using Anthropic's AI. The Pentagon has been building AI partnerships with many tech companies.
