Green Party Leader Sorry for Police Force Retweet
Green Party leader Zack Polanski said sorry for sharing a post online. The post claimed police used too much force during an arrest.
The arrest followed a knife attack in Golders Green in London on Wednesday. Two Jewish men were hurt in the attack.
Police treated it as a terrorist incident. Met Commissioner Mark Rowley wrote to Polanski calling his retweet inaccurate.
Rowley also said London's Jewish communities are scared. Prime Minister Keir Starmer called Polanski disgraceful and not fit to lead any party.
Senior Green Party members also stepped away from Polanski's retweet. Polanski also criticised The Times newspaper over a drawing of him.
The drawing used an antisemitic image of a hooked nose. Polanski is Jewish and said Jewish communities are not safe. He said this was not an abstract idea for him personally.
