Haiti Hands Power to New Prime Minister
Haiti's transitional council gave power to Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé on Saturday. This happened as Haiti prepares for elections.
Haiti hasn't held general elections in ten years. The council was created two years ago.
Criminal gangs control much of Haiti's capital city. The council was unable to stop gang violence.
Prime Minister Fils-Aimé is said to be backed by the US government. The US recently sent a warship near Haiti's capital.
