IEA Reports 1.8 Million-Barrel Oil Shortfall Amid Hormuz Closure
The International Energy Agency said oil markets face a shortfall. The shortfall is about 1.8 million barrels a day.
Renewed fighting and shipping disruptions in the Middle East caused this. These problems are hurting oil production recovery.
CNBC reported that the Strait of Hormuz has closed. This closure is disrupting global oil flows.
Global oil supplies will drop faster than expected this quarter. The new drop rate is more than twice the earlier estimate.
The agency also expects oil demand to fall in 2026. Demand may drop by 1.6 million barrels a day. High fuel prices and Hormuz disruptions are causing this drop.
Klear Note — The Strait of Hormuz is a key sea route for oil shipments. Oil inventories are stored supplies held by countries and companies.
