Illinois Mother Charged With Murder After Son Found Dead
Corie Walsh, 40, was charged with murder in Illinois. Her two-year-old son Barrett was found dead last week.
He was found in the basement of their home. Walsh was found elsewhere in the home with injuries.
Authorities said the injuries appeared to be self-inflicted. Her attorney said she was having a psychotic episode.
This means she was experiencing a severe break from reality. Prosecutors said Walsh had been closely following another murder trial.
That trial involved Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy. Walsh was texting friends about the case.
This happened just hours before Barrett was found dead. Authorities have not said the Clancy trial caused this killing. Public evidence only shows that Walsh discussed the case.
Klear Note — A murder charge is an accusation, not proof of guilt. Prosecutors have not said the Massachusetts case caused Barrett’s death.
