Iran and Israel Trade Strikes as Trump Urges Restraint
Iran launched about 30 missiles at Israel on Sunday night. Israel then hit Iran with two waves of air strikes.
This was the first direct fight between the two countries since a ceasefire in mid-April. Iran said its strikes were a response to Israel hitting Beirut's southern suburbs.
President Trump urged both sides to stop as the attacks grew worse. Iran then said it would halt its strikes.
Netanyahu held back from another attack under pressure from Trump. Trump also told the Financial Times that Netanyahu does not control any Iran deal. But Netanyahu said the war with Iran and Hezbollah is not over.
Klear Note — Iran and Israel have fought indirectly for years through proxies. Direct attacks between them are rare and raise war risks.
