Iran and US Nuclear Talks Break Down
Nuclear talks between Iran and the United States have stalled. Iranian leaders left Islamabad in Pakistan.
This cast doubt on plans for direct talks with the United States. President Trump then called off a trip by two US envoys.
He told Fox News he told Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner not to make the 18-hour flight. Trump said 'We have all the cards.' The White House had planned to send both envoys to Pakistan for direct talks.
But Iranian leaders said no direct talks are expected. A first round of talks in Islamabad had already ended without a deal.
Iran also threatened to strike back over a US blockade of Iranian ports. Iran's military called the blockade 'banditry' and 'piracy.'
Klear Note — Iran and the US have disagreed over nuclear weapons for years. Direct talks are rare and often fail. A blockade stops ships from trading with Iran.
