Iran Denies US Talks as Envoys Head to Pakistan
President Trump is sending two envoys to Pakistan. They are Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Witkoff is a US special envoy. They are expected to arrive in Islamabad on Saturday.
The goal is talks with Iran's foreign minister. But Iran says no meeting with US negotiators is planned.
This contradicts the stated purpose of the trip. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Friday.
He met with Pakistani leaders. He said his visit was about working with Pakistani go-betweens.
Any contact would be indirect rather than face-to-face. Reports say the envoys' arrival may be pushed back to Sunday. Sources say a meeting could happen as late as Monday.
