Iran Fires Missile at Kuwait Amid Fragile Ceasefire

Iran launched a missile toward Kuwait on Thursday. Kuwait's forces shot it down.

Iran said the strike was revenge for an earlier US attack. The US had struck the port city of Bandar Abbas in Iran earlier that Thursday.

Iran's state TV showed images of missiles being fired at a US air base. The US also shot down four Iranian drones near the Strait of Hormuz.

Sources say the drones were threatening ships in the area. This is the worst fighting since a ceasefire began in April.

The ceasefire ended a three-month war between the US and Iran. But the recent fighting is putting that ceasefire at risk.

Talks to end the war are ongoing. Separate talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz are also underway.

On Wednesday the US announced new economic penalties against Iran. These added pressure alongside the military clashes.
