Iran Fires Missiles at Israel Threatening Ceasefire
Iran fired missiles at Israel on Sunday. This was the first direct strike since a ceasefire began in early April.
The ceasefire is between the US and Iran. Israel had struck the outskirts of Beirut earlier on Sunday.
Two people were killed and 20 were hurt. Iran fired the missiles in response.
Iran warned more attacks would follow if Israel kept striking Lebanon. Oil prices rose sharply after the missile attack.
Markets reacted to the threat to regional stability. The attack now threatens the ceasefire and peace talks.
Negotiators are worried the ceasefire could collapse. Pakistan's interior minister was in Tehran on Sunday as part of peace efforts. Qatar and Egypt are also involved in those efforts.
Klear Note — A ceasefire between the US and Iran began in early April. Direct attacks between Iran and Israel are rare and risky for peace talks.
