Iran Sends New Peace Plan to Mediators
Iran passed a new proposal to Pakistani mediators on Thursday night. The plan aims to end the war between Iran and the United States.
Iran's state-run news agency confirmed the move. The United States and Pakistan did not confirm receiving it right away.
The contents of the proposal were not clear at first. Reports say it is a 10-point plan.
This is part of efforts to end a deadlock in talks between the two countries. A three-week ceasefire is reportedly still holding.
The two countries are still at a standoff over the Strait of Hormuz. About one fifth of the world's traded oil and gas passes through the strait.
President Trump had earlier said he was unhappy with a previous Iranian proposal. That plan focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz but put off nuclear talks. Trump said it did not address Iran's nuclear programme.
