Iran Strikes Back After US Attacks Hits Strait
US forces struck Iran for a third time this week. Iran responded with attacks on Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait.
Some reports say Iran hit an air base in Jordan. Other reports say Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE faced threats or stopped strikes.
Iran also closed the Strait of Hormuz until further notice. This narrow waterway is a key route for global oil shipping.
Ship traffic through it has almost stopped completely. Only two oil tankers were seen near the passage.
The latest US strikes reportedly hit about 140 Iranian military targets. The strikes followed an attack on a merchant ship in the strait.
Trump's administration had asked Iran on Friday to guarantee safe passage through the strait. That guarantee was a key US condition for ending the fighting.
Instead Iran's Revolutionary Guard reportedly struck a cargo ship. Iran then closed the strait until further notice.
President Trump has declared the ceasefire over. He said he remains open to talks.
