Israel and Hezbollah Renew Ceasefire After Deadly Strikes
Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire on June 19. The truce followed deadly fighting that killed 4 Israeli soldiers.
At least 20 people were also killed in Lebanon. Lebanese health officials reported 16 deaths in morning strikes alone.
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said 'all of Lebanon must burn' in response to the fighting. The ceasefire raised hopes for a wider US-Iran peace deal.
Fighting in Lebanon had put those talks at risk. US and Iranian leaders had already delayed talks planned in Switzerland.
US Vice President JD Vance also cancelled his trip to Geneva. Iran's supreme leader had voiced doubt about the US-Iran deal after it was signed. Oil prices fell after the ceasefire as markets hoped the deal could survive.
